The Nigeria Nationwide league one, (formerly called Nigeria Amateur League) is the third level of club football in Nigeria. Clubs from this level gets promoted to the Nigeria National League before another promotion can guarantee a place in the Nigeria Premier Professional League, the highest league football in Nigeria.
That uneasy but steady progression has become the mantra and ambition of Rolly Stars Football Club, the latest entrant into the National Nation-wide League one (NLO) in Nigeria.
The club Marketing Director, Fred Newton Erhunmwunse told scorerfootballmagazine.com that the club has not only come to stay but to also play to the highest level of football in Nigeria.
“Rolly Stars Football Club is based here in Benin-City and we will be competing in the Nation-wide League one once the pandemic is over and football is given the green light to commence. The club is blessed with a Chairman, Mr Roland Inonojie who has so decided to dedicate his life to football just as we have a very experienced club Secretary in the person of Kenneth Ugbodaga and wait for it, the club’s coach is the former Super Eagles winger, Ndubuisi Okosieme. As you can see, we are a very ambitious side and we are very bold about it”, Fred Newton Erhunmwunse who also doubles as the club’s media officer revealed.
“The club also has a women team, Rolly Angels FC so our Chairman is not in any way gender biased and he was even encouraged to do more when our Angels made it all the way to the semi-finals of the Edo State women FA Cup in 2019”, he stressed further.
The Nigeria football league season is currently suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic but organisers are yet to rule out a return this year.
