Team Edo Wrestlers Set Sights on Gold

As wrestlers take to the ring on Saturday at the ongoing National Youth Games, Team Edo, led by Coach Victor Oriakhi, are poised to put the back of their opponents to the floor as they set their eyes on gold in all categories they will be competing in.

The team which arrived Ilorin on Monday was prepared for all expected to come their ways, but for the delay in commencement of the games, had to keep training all days to remain in top shape for the annual competion.

Team Edo will compete in four categories namely 52kg and 44kg male, 32kg and 42kg female and based on the trainings they have undergone, Coach Victor Oriakhi is certain they will do well on the mat against their opponents.

“Well, it’s not easy that since we arrived here we will just be going to the ring tomorrow; but then, I can tell you it’s like blessing in disguise for my wrestlers, come watch today and you will report our gold winning feat.”

Meanwhile, the chairman of Edo State Wrestling Association and former world middleweight champion, Morris Atula has promised to handsomely reward every of his wrestlers for any medal won, but charged them to go all out for gold so as to bring glory to themselves, family and the state.
