Super Eagles Defender Set to Quit Nigerian League as Top Clubs Jostle for Signature

The Nigerian local football scene might yet be witnessing the departure of one more popular player and perhaps the best leg in the league as top clubs from around the world have started making offers for the league’s most valuable defender.

Ifeanyi Anaemena of Enyimba FC is about becoming a free agent as the 2019/2020 Nigerian league season is the last on his contract papers with the multiple Nigerian league champions and news reaching us has it that the power playing defender is not renewing the contract with Enyimba.

The highly experienced defender who has featured in the CAF Champions legue and Confederations cup over the years with Enyimba was about making a move to Malaysia last winter but the team backed down when they couldn’t meet up with the huge transfer fees demanded by the Aba club.

The players agent, Rammone Remmie of Galant Respect Agency however believes that his player will move this time as he becomes a free agent in a few months.

” Ifeanyi is already attracting interest from Tunisia, Algeria, Isreal, Belgium and some other clubs in Eastern Europe. He is becoming a free player at the end of this current season and that makes it more attractive for foreign clubs”, the agent declared.

Ifeanyi Anaemena’s stocks have risen since becoming a national team player as he has earned 5 call ups to the Super Eagles B and A teams in the last six months. He was last invited by Gernort Rohr for the AFCON 2021 qualifier between Nigeria and Benin Republic in Asaba in November 2019.

Ifeanyi Anaemena is the current captain of Enyimba FC and he led the team to winning the Nigeria Premier League in 2019. The former Giwa FC central defender has won the Nigerian league defender of the year award in 2018 and 2019 consecutively.
