He is just 23 years of age but with plenty experience coming from a 7 year stint in the Nigerian premier professional league, Ibrahim Mustapha already qualifies for a potential Nigeria league exit with Europe as a likely and befitting destination.
Playing and scoring in the CAF Confederations cup for Enyimba FC of Aba, representing Nigeria at the Home-based Africa Cup of Nations and scoring every other week in the Nigeria premier league since his 2019 arrival at Plateau United ranks as Ibrahim Mustapha’s intimidating curriculum Vitae (CV) as his agent Rammone Remmie Ashiru of Gallant Respect Agency commences negotiations with would be suitors already showing interests in the tall lanky forward.
“Yuga” as he is fondly called started his professional career from his base in Maiduguri when he teamed up with Elkanemi Warriors in 2013 after a spell at his first local club, Gwenge Arsenal. His exploits at Elkanemi Warriors FC then landed him a big money move to multiple Nigeria League champions, Enyimba FC where he continued with his goal banging records as a teenager, a feat too big to be ignored by the handlers of the national team and he was soon to find himself in the green and White colors of the Super Eagles of Nigeria. He was a part of the team which won the silver medal at the CHAN 2018 Africa Cup of Nations for Nigeria, only surrendering the gold after the final loss to host Morocco.
Ibrahim Mustapha joined present club Plateau United before the start of the 2019-2020 season but Aba fans will never forget his exploits for the team in the 2018 Confederations Cup where his strikes proved to be life savers in the game vs Bidvest FC of South Africa in the preliminary knock out stage and Williams Ville FC of Abidjan in the group stage proper. Yuga’s strike in the 1-1 draw Enyimba recorded in South Africa was the saving grace as the team advanced on away goal following yet another draw, this time a 0-0 stalemate in the return leg in Calabar. He also won the Nigeria Premier League with the Aba warlords.
Ibrahim Mustapha also scored the solitary strike as Enyimba FC overcame Williams Ville of Abidjan 1-0 at home in Port-harcourt enroute a semi-final finish in the same 2018 CAF Confederations Cup.
Since joining table toppers Plateau United and scoring his first goal for the club in November 2019 against Wikki Tourist, Ibrahim Mustapha has recorded 11 goals and 7 assists to his name so far in the league and that was even inspite of a 3 week injury lay-off in early 2020.
Watch out for “Yuga”, you might just well remember you read it from here.
