Two 2nd half goals was all it took as Heartland Football Club of Owerri became the Champions of the NNL by defeating Kano Pillars 2-0.
The match, played at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium Asaba was the final of the NNL Super 8 play-off for which 4 tickets to the NPL was keenly contested for by 8 teams.
Heartland and Kano Pillars had qualified for the NPL alongside Katsina United and Sporting Lagos but the final match was played to determine the Champions of the 2nd most important league cadre in Nigeria.
Erikan Francis of Heartland who scored a beautiful opening goal in the game went home with the player of the tourney award.
