The Chairman Edo State Football Association, Honourable Henry Osaro Asemota on Tuesday described as painful, the death of a prominent member of the Executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, Hon. Chidi Ofor Okenwa.
The Chairman Nigeria National League, NNL and Enugu state Football Association had before his death been battling with leukemia and he was unfortunately reported to have slumped in the early hours of Tuesday before he was rushed to a private hospital in Enugu where he was confirmed dead.
In his condolence message as released by the media officer of the Edo FA, Hon Asemota described the deceased as a trust worthy and brilliant football administrator whose vision was to develop Nigerian football.
“ We have lost a great football administrator, a trust Worthy leader, the football family across the country will forever remember Chidi Ofor for his exemplary leadership”.
Hon Asemota also sympathised with Chidi Ofor’s family.
“He was humble to a fault, a man burning with passion to serve his people and I pray that God rest his soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with the NFF, NNL, Enugu FA and the family of the deceased”, he concluded.
Late Chief Chidi Ofor Okenwa died at the age of 50 in Enugu state.
