CRESCENT SPORTS CLUB REMEMBERS FALLEN HERO.

On the 14th day of June 2004, Dean Omonuwa was shot dead in cold blood in Benin-City. He would have been 51 years of age this year. That is the short summary of the life and times of the former 2 term secretary of the prestigious Crescent Sports Club of Benin-City, Edo State.

Fast forward 15 years, the great Crescent Sports Club filed out over the weekend to play a memorial match at the club’s ultra modern sports complex, Iyekogba, Benin-City to pay a poignant tribute to a gallant lawyer, footballer and administrator.

President of the club, Barrister Eddy Aibangbee who was full of nostalgia, showered encomiums on the late Dean Omonuwa, while urging other Crescenters to imbibe the sacrificial and selfless efforts of the late former club scribe whose life was prematurely cut down at the young age of 36 years.

“A crescenter never dies. We are here remembering Dean Omonuwa 15 years after because a member is never forgotten. He is forever in our hearts.
“We were at his grave side 24 hours prior and we have also sent a high powered delegation to his family. He was and still one of us. A crescenter lives forever”.

The late Dean Omoruwa was a barrister at law as well as an administrator of repute, combining family life and recreation as a leisure footballer before getting cut at his prime.
