Bendel Insurance, Remo Stars End Relegation Battle In Stalemate.

Remo stars of Sagamu on Saturday held Bendel Insurance of Benin to a goalless draw on match day 15 of the 2019 NPFL game in Benin.

The away side started the game on a bright note working out their counter attacking play to hurt the Bendel Insurance side playing with utmost confidence of winning the game having won their last two games at home against MFM FC and Wikki Tourist with an away draw to Enyimba last week.

Amas Obasogie the Bendel Insurance goalkeeper was equal to every punchline thrown at him by the visitors with fine saves on three occasions to keep his team in the right frame of mind as the game continued.

Bendel Insurance gradually came into the game with a fine link up play from the midfield but the duo of Imade and Michael Enaruna could not produce a goal from all efforts at Remo stars goal.

Remo stars responded to Insurance attack on the 38th minutes, but could only see the well worked counter attack denied by the crossbar.

Insurance resumed the break continuing from where they stopped with creation of chances but could only watch in anguish as all attempts failed to result to goals.

Old war horse Charles Omokaro was brought on in the 75th minute of the game and immediately registered his presence with a neat pass in the six yard box but saw his team mate fail to connect just as the time was running out.

The game ended in utter disbelief for the squad and fans of Bendel Insurance who left for their respective homes very disappointed.

Speaking after the game, the Chief Coach of Remo Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede praised the efforts of his team and the management.

“Our Performance of the game is the consequence of the position we are on the table, we know we are not safe, so the boys came to win, but unfortunately we got a point which is not bad for us, we will keep fighting till the end of the league.

“The boys realized that we are almost drowning, so they came to fight like a lion which they did.

Speaking on the game plan the team will deploy to escape relegation,the coach stressed that their game plan remains the same.

“The game plan from the beginning of the season is what we are still doing, just that it has not been working for us, but now we thank God.

“At least we are able to get it right today and we are planning to work more on it most especially our attacking third to slot the ball in the net.

With this draw, Bendel Insurance remains 10th on the log with 17 points after fourteen round of matches, four ahead of Remo Stars who sits on 11th position after fifteen matches played.
