Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin on Sunday recorded their biggest defeat of the ongoing Nigeria Premier League after losing 0-2 to Mountain of Fire and Miracles FC (MFM) of Lagos in a match day 11 encounter at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
The Benin Arsenal show of strength in the midfield could not provide any goal response against their host who were lucky to convert their chances into positive result to consolidate on their top position in group A.
The Olukoya boys got their deserved victory through set pieces converted by
Olawale Abisoye ( 39) and Michael Ohanu (58) from a corner kick header and a deflected freekick respectively.
Insurance have never conceded two without a reply since their return to the premier league while the 2-0 loss made it their third defeat after losing 0-1 and 1-2 to Wikki Tourists and Katsina United respectively and have only beaten Lobi Stars to have three maximum points after 10 games.
The Mountain of Fire defeat has further pushed Insurance down to 11th position on the table while remaining on 9 points.
Speaking after the game the chief coach of Bendel Insurance FC, Baldwin Bazuaye who was visibly unhappy with the result and lack of goals said the technical crew is not getting what they expect but that they will continue to work hard especially on their attack and midfield. He expressed optimism that his team will remain in the premier league, saying that the league is still wide open and hoped for a turnaround in the second round which begins next week. The MFM manager Ilechukwu Fidelis on the other hand said he was pleased with the result despite his side losing the midfield control to Insurance.
