After seeing his tactics exposed and flawed two minutes from time against Akwa United, coach of Algerian side, CR Belouizdad, Beketi Karim has heaped his praises on Akwa United for their victory over his side in the CAF champions league match on Sunday.
Akwa United got their victory from the foot of team captain, Ubong Friday two minutes from time to condemn their opponents to a defeat at the Nest of champions in Uyo.
In assessing the match against Akwa United, the gaffer regrets the defeat and hope they will have the second leg won in eigth days from today.
“We performed well, gave everything and tried our best. The return leg should be in our favour.
“The team played better in the first half and looked tired at the second stanza. On the whole, we have learnt our lessons”.
Speaking further on the standard of Akwa United as a team Karim said they must not underrate Akwa and must forget about the game and get to work for the second leg.
“That’s how football is. We can’t take anything away from Akwa United, the champions of Nigeria. They were solid too. We have forgotten about the game and will go back to the drawing board. The aim in Algiers is getting a positive result.”, the coach concluded.
