All roads lead to the Crescent Sports Club, Iwogban Off Iriri Road, Benin City as the Quarter Finals stage of the 4th edition of Stephen Keshi National Under 17 Football Tournament takes centre stage.
Four matches are lined up for the excitement of teaming fans and to high expectations on who advances to the semi-finals, a stage before settling out scores of who emerges as overall champions.
Group A winners and defending champions, Insurance Feeders who walked over their last opponents on matchday 3 and have accrued perfect records of 6 points and 5 goals without conceding any will match up with Winchester City football club. Winchester City did turn the table against Aidia Sports Club in the last match of group B as they had no point going into the match as against their opponents who had 1 point and a better chance of qualifying only if they had gotten a draw, but a ‘fantastic’ goalkeeper error gave the Bayelsa based team the maximum points to set a date with Insurance Feeders.
Winchester City won a game, lost the other and they could only score one goal in the two games, making them the second team in the last 8 with the lowest number of goals scored.
Four points, from one win, one draw a d 1 goal scored is all Excellent Academy of Delta needed to make it to the last 8 and will today squares up against Oloke FC who despite losing their first game 2-0 to Insurance Feeders, came back with full force in the second match to hand EZ Stars their second defeats with two goals to nil
The Unique football academy is another side with perfect records so far in the tournament- two wins, two goals scored, six points garnered and no goal conceded. Kaita FTB will have their work cut out against Unique, who has shown a unique display with their attacking spirit and defensive coordination so far in this tournament. Kaita FTB of Kano shares the spoil with Hollandho FC in a barren draw in the last group D encounter. Kaita FTB, though can score goals-with three to their names already, they can as well concede- two goals they have. We are in for a cracker between these two sides today.
The last quarter-finals stage match will be another match up as Hollandho FC, who topped their group with 4 points, 2 goals scored and none conceded against Young Stars football club; Young Stars were the first team to score three goals in this tournament, but they lost against Unique FC by a lone goal in the last group match of group C, though that was enough to give them the quarter-finals ticket.
