It was a grand home coming for Ex- Governor of Edo state, Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion as he was lavishly received by the executives and members of his boyhood club, Crescent Sports Club of Benin-City over the weekend.

Lucky Igbinedion who served as the number one man in Edo state for an eight year period between 1999 and 2007, got a shocker on his return to the home ground of Crescent Sports Club in Benin-City as the reception organised to celebrate him as a Crescenter clearly surpassed his expectations and this much was expressed in his address to his former team mates and present members.

“I was told to come that a match was being organised in my honour. Now I am here and I am seeing my banners everywhere as if I am contesting for presidency. Honestly I am overwhelmed, but pleasantly. I can see a lot of work has been done here but I look forward to seeing the academy spring up. There is need to engage the youths both mentally and physically and they can be rest assured that we will continue to support them”, the former CSC striker famed for his acrobatic skills infront of goal announced.

The president of Crescent Sports Club,
Ambassador Ehighalua Andrew was full of praises for the one time Chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF) while crediting him for some of the accomplishments of the club over the years.

“Our daddy Lucky is a living legend. He is an icon and he has been the man behind the club and its’ many successes. He donated this edifice to us, single handedly flew us to Ghana to play an international game and has been supporting us financially. He is here today in person and he has also given us advice on ways going forward. We are so blessed to have him”, the club president stated excitedly.

Lucky Igbinedion was subsequently decorated with the club colours and honoured with the position of Grand Patron Emeritus of the Crescent Sports Club.

The day had been kick started with a novelty match between Crescent Sports Club and All Stars of Benin, a game which ended in an exciting 0-0 draw.
