    Soccer history was re-written in Asaba on Sunday as 9 boys from Edo held on at heart thumping pace to a nerve wrenching finish to secure an unlikely 3-2 victory over a highly spirited boys from Bayelsa at the National Youth Games Zonal elimination which draws to a close today.

    Tears flowed freely amidst sobs and wailing as a near perfect 2nd half resurgence by Bayelsa State U-15 boys who threw caution to the wind to assume a near perfect beast mode after going down 0-3 courtesy of a lacklustre performance to a ruthless U-15 boys from Edo State was met with wits and grit by the Obaseki boys.

    The referess final whistle sounded and final scores stood at 3-2, a five goal thriller with Edo narrowly edging the tie despite playing the entire game with 9 boys as against 11 from Bayelsa due to ineligibility on account of age. The result qualified Edo to play in the football event of the National Youth Games billed for Ilorin, Kwara State from the 7th-17th September as one of the 2 representatives of the South South with Delta having picked the first ticket courtesy of 2 back to back victories over Edo and Bayelsa.
